November 19, 1863: organized at Nashville, Tennessee.
Until December, 1864: railroad guard duty in Tennessee and Alabama
December 15-16, 1864: battle of Nashville
December 17-18, 1864: pursuit of John Bell Hood's army to the Tennessee River
Until Jan 1866: railroad guard and garrison duty
January 10, 1866: mustered out
Soldiers lost: 90 men were killed or mortally wounded and
265 of the men died of disease
The 13th Colored Infantry Regiment faced major combat for the
first time in fierce fighting during the battle of Nashville. They proved
themselves to be courageous soldiers in this battle and suffered heavy
casualties.
