Smithy Golladay
African American female

Smithy is mentioned in a letter to Martha Golladay by Eliza Guy when George and Martha Golladay were away in Tennessee:

Grenada, 20 Aug 1858

Smithy sends her love to you all. She says she will not forget how to cook. She says to tell Ellen that she never thought she would think so little of her as not to send word howdy to her.

Smithy appears to be the family cook. It is not clear who Ellen is, possibly this is the nickname for fifteen year old Davidella. Davidella's cousin had also complained about not hearing from Davidella.
