James Monroe
Golladay
Son of Cyrus Golladay and Mary Pearson James was not married when he enlisted on 18 May 1861 at Mt. Jackson. He was 6' 0" in height with fair complexion, gray eyes, and brown hair. He absent without leave on 24 August 1861 near Centerville, but returned on 16 October 1861 and was present until March 1862. James was absent without leave again on May 1862. He then re-enlisted in the 12th Virginia Cavalry on 01 September 1862. He was serving as a provost guard on 28 April 1864. James was wounded at the Battle of Todd's Tavern on 05 May 1864. After the war, James married Anne Virginia Clevenger on 01 January 1868.
James Monroe Golladay was Mabel's grandfather.
