James was not married when he enlisted on 18 May 1861 at Mt. Jackson.

AWOL on 24 Aug 1861 near Centerville

Returned on 16 Oct 1861 and present until March 1862

AWOL from 22 May 1862

Enlisted in 12th Virginia Cavalry on 01 Sep 1862

He was serving as a provost guard on 28 April 1864 and was wounded at Todd's Tavern on 5 May 1864.

After the war, James married Anne Virginia Clevenger on 01 Jan 1868.

This picture belonged to Ida Mabel Golladay (wife of Vivian Girard Smith). Mabel's parents were John Samuel Golladay and Hattie Belle Lemley of Stephens City in Frederick County, Virginia. This picture probably was taken sometime around the1890's.

James Monroe Golladay was Mabel's grandfather.
