Broken in health after the rigors of Army life, he
spent two years in Colorado in the early seventies, there regaining his
health.
He returned to Tennessee where he was united in
marriage to Melissa C. Brimer, to which unto there were born seven
children, two of whom died in early childhood. He moved with his family
to Wamego in 1885, where he spent the reminder of his life.
Mr. Golladay had been in poor health for over a year,
but no one thought that the end was so near. He had seemed in unusual
good health and spirits and after visiting with friends downtown, had
returned home and had laid down for a short rest and was awaiting the
arrival of his daughter , Mrs. P. L. Fish, of Los Angles, on the 8:15
train, when the end came peacefully as he had often wished it, as he had
said that he had no fear and was prepared and had his peace with God.
