John P. Coverstone
136 Virginia Militia
Company C
 Private

Husband of Rebecca Golladay

John was 33 years old when he enlisted in the militia on 19 July 1861. He was present from 31 Dec 1861 to 04 April 1862.

He was detailed to make powder kegs at Powell's Fort. This occupation was critical to the Confederate war effort, so it is likely that John continued this work during the war.

He married Rebecca in 1881. This was Rebecca's second marriage, after her first husband Gabriel died in 1872.

John was 73 years old when died on 25 March 1901

Buried at: Slate Hill / Golladay Cemetery in Dilbeck, Virginia
