Morgan Wakeman Husband of Amanda Golladay Son of John J. Wakeman, Sr., and Mary Burner
Morgan was almost 28 years old and married with children when the war began. He was listed as miller in the1860 census. This occupation was critical to the Confederate war effort, so it is likely that Morgan continued to work at the mill during the war. An article in the Shenandoah Herald on 16 January 1873 noted the sale of a "Tract of land lying in Powell's Fort containing 12 acres, a grist and saw mill ... conveyed to said Jonas and Morgan Wakeman by David Clem and wife". Wakeman's Mill was on the Shenandoah River.
