Husband of Esther H. Powers

 

George married Esther H. Powers on 09 March 1859 at Maquon, Illinois.

He was 24 years old and living in Salem, Illinois when he enlisted on 10 Aug 1862 at Uniontown. He mustered in on 21 August 1862 at Monmouth. George was listed as 5' 8 1/2" in height with fair complexion, hazel eyes, and brown hair. He was born in Franklin County, Ohio.

He was discharged on 26 June 1865 at Nashville, Tennessee

On 25 November 1869, George was threshing grain and got his left arm caught in the threshing machine. His arm had to be amputated at the elbow. He filed for a disability pension on 27 June 1890 stating the loss of his arm.

George died in Yates City  on 31 March 1899.


   Buried at:  Yates City Cemetery (Knox County), Illinois
