Major's monument and the cemetery records spell Major's last name as "Galladay." Others records indicate the spelling of Golladay or Golliday.

In the 1870 Mississippi census, there is a Major Golladay whose age is 69 living in Grenada County, East Ward of Grenada. This soldier may have been his son or grandson.
